toppermostpoppermost asked: I don't understand why Puss was nominated either, but for Rango, perhaps it was more for the technical aspect of the movie and how they made it, whereas Dreamworks used the same technology and methods of their other films to produce Puss.
Not to mention Puss had the trademark toilet humor that is in all of DreamWorks movies. The Academy honestly has no idea what its doing when it comes to animation. They treat it as a kids medium, and with some exceptions (Beauty and the Beast, Up, Toy Story 3, Spirited Away, and Pixar’s other films) they don’t understand that it can entertain and affect children and adults. They look for that toilet humor or adult ~edge~ which is why that dumb movie about the stupid, annoying green ogre won over the monumentally better Monsters, Inc.
